Looney Tunes: April 2003

Cover

Elmer Fudd, Yosemite Sam, and Marvin stand before Bugs' hole in the ground, with their respective weapons knotted together. Elmer cautions, "Shh! Be vewy vewy quiet..." as Yosemite looks through a book entitled Rabbit Hunting, explaining, "...Ah'm a-huntin'..." Unlike the others, Marvin notices the knot, saying "Oh, dear."

Synopsis

At Loony Night School, Bugs looks through the list of classes, rejecting a few classes with rather improbable instructors, until he finds R.U.N.T. - Rabbit Undermining and Negation Techniques, taught by Marvin, Yosemite, and Elmer. As he ponder who would take such a class, Taz whirls by looking for it. The rabbit neatly urges him to class. Not into R.U.N.T. but into a hippie-filled anger management class. Bugs dons a Tasmanian Devil disguise and enters the trio's class.

After nearly giving himself by speaking clearly, Bugs puts on the proper act. The first technique of the night's lesson uses Elmer's pack of mechanical dogs. They may be great hunters, but have the same fallibilities of real dogs. Bugs ducks out of the room just after setting up the trio for a chomping. The second technique uses Yosemite Sam's rabbit disguises. Sam claims camouflage, but it's untested. Bugs, as Taz, arranges a test by inviting a few carnivores in for a look... and a snack.

The third technique is to use Marvin's remote controlled flying traps. Again the disguises rabbit changes the target from rabbit to teachers. The bruised trio sees through the disguise, mainly as Bugs wasn't wearing for a moment, and give chase. The rabbit is chased into another classroom, the anger management classroom. Here, the trio attempts to pulls the disguise off, but it's the real Taz and it seems that his anger isn't as manageable as some might hope.

Mutt In Black

Credits

Synopsis

Charlie Dog sees that Porky is about to sit down to a meal of steak. Thinking fast, he heads into the wheat field and makes a pattern, that of a canine about to eat a steak, in the crop. Charlie points out the pattern to Porky, hoping it inspires the pig to part with his meal. Instead, the dog gets kicked out of the house.

Charlie tries again, wearing an outfit suggesting Men in Black. The dog claims the steak is really an alien that must be interrogated, but his overly honest patter after that - and a poor choice of prop - only angers Porky, who chases Charlie off rather emphatically.

The Woolen Fill-In

Credits

Synopsis

Ralph Wolf calls Sam to tell him he won't be in, not because of his obvious injuries, but because he has a cold. A substitute, Daffy, is being sent to fill in for Ralph. At first, Daffy doesn't realize the unique working relationship he shares with Sam and thinks the job will be easy. The duck discovers otherwise quickly and painfully.

With his new understanding, Daffy sets out to get Sam far away, sending him off to rescue a mock sheep on a mountain top. The duck is thwarted when Sam knocks a bit of snow down and it, well, snowballs. Another try at removing Sam involves a rocket-propelled barber chair, but Daffy gets snagged by rope left lying about, and then gets a unusual trim.

The duck next tries to get Sam off the job by telling him he's been fired and must leave immediately. This appears to work, at least until Daffy tries to impress the boss. The boss isn't in, but Sam is and he gives the duck what for. Now Daffy is in bandages and traction, but Ralph is ready for work again.

2003: An Out In Space Oddity

Credits

Synopsis

Sylvester and Tweety are at a space shuttle launch. They're up close, too, as they are being taken into space for some research aboard the space station. They goes by quickly, various experiments leaving Sylvester frazzled. Soon it's time to sleep, but the cat messed up his supper and is still hungry.

Escaping his confining bed, Sylvester goes after Tweety but has trouble with weightlessness. Tweety takes care of that by turning on the gravity, but switches it off and on repeatedly, pummeling the cat with his own weight. When the chase resume, the bird tricks the cat into the laundry facilities where he gets worked over again.

Another trick, in the form of a warning, sends Sylvester outside the station. One more misdirection later, the cat gets hit by garbage before getting back inside the station. Refusing to follow Tweety into what he expects is another trap, Sylvester gets left behind when everyone else leaves. That would not be so bad if the many tubes of paste had some food paste in them...
