Looney Tunes: August 1997

Cover

Daffy, in endorsement laden shirt, bicycle shorts, gloves, helmet and shoes (?) is standing with his arm resting on his bicycle. The bicycle is a 'decked out' mountain bike with a mirror, bell, flag, basket, and what looks like it might be a small rocket, as well as the usual water bottle. Daffy is pulling down his sunglasses, looking over them and saying, "They showed me the money." All of the endorsement advertising is duck related, save for the flag which tells the world "Eat at Joe's."

Synopsis

It's the Acme Off-Road Bike Rally, with Daffy chiding Bugs about his bike. Daffy shows off his 'Demon Duckcycle' and rattles off a bunch of mechanical nonsense, including a surprisingly heavy weight for a bicycle, to impress Bugs. Bugs is rather unconcerned as the race starts.

Taking a shortcut, Daffy paints a tunnel entrance in a hillside. Bugs bikes right on through. The racers following him crash into the hillside and each other.

Only mildly set back, the duck uses a feature of his bike to zoom ahead to a rope bridge which he sabotages after insulting a goat. Bugs pedals over the bridge without incident, much to Daffy's annoyance. When Daffy tries the bridge, it does collapse. The goat finds Daffy's predicament hilarious. Daffy drops into a river, and then over a falls.

The goat is still annoyed and works to dislodge a boulder which Daffy sees falling at him just in time to bike away in a panic. He again uses a feature of the bike in his escape, and nearly makes it to the finish line only to have the boulder meet him. Bugs wins and ends the story with the prize, the goat, and a pun.

Board Out Of His Mind

Credits

Synopsis

Sylvester and Junior watch some skateboarders, Junior asking if he'll ever be as cool. Sylvester's response, of course, is that he'll show them how it's done. Nevermind that he has no experience. Which he promptly demonstrates. Sylvester tries again, and loses control in a most impressive manner, thus impressing the skateboarders.

They are so impressed they suggest he run the gauntlet, a course so perilous it demands a special skateboard: the Suffering Succotash. After a moment of realization, Sylvester is off running the gauntlet. He somehow makes it through the various dangers, which include maces and flames, only to find the end isn't there; the finale is straight up! Sylvester soars and then lands hard. He turns down the offer to go along with the group tomorrow.

Avalanche Of Love

Credits

Synopsis

Penelope is vacationing at a ski resort. So is Pepe, who is looking for singles who may be riding the lift alone. He sees Penelope and starts after her, but despite creating a ruckus he is too late to ride with her. Penelope's lift chair has just been painted and leaves her with a white stripe on her back...which only encourages Pepe.

Going a bit too fast, Penelope passes the easy and intermediate slopes and starts down the slope that isn't recommended to anybody. Pepe see this and starts after her, to rescue her. Penelope skis well, well enough to avoid the unfinished ramp which Pepe ends up sailing from. Changing transport often, Pepe travels first by ski, then helicopter, bobsled, snowboard, and dogsled. Penelope trades her skis for a snowmobile as he approaches.

Pepe goes all out trying to catch up to her. The pair puts a new and quite literal twist on the winter game of crack the whip and Pepe goes flying. Penelope makes it back to the lodge and is about to relax when Pepe crashes through the wall in a snow making machine.
