Looney Tunes: February 2001

Cover

A Christmas scene with a fire in the fireplace, a decorated tree with presents beneath, and Bugs holding a bit of mistletoe over Daffy and Taz. They are not kissing, though, for Daffy's head is inside Taz's mouth. The disgusted duck mutters "Ha ha. Very funny."

- What Bugs holds might have the leaves of mistletoe rather than holly, which is often mistaken for mistletoe, but the berries should be white rather than red. Red berries go with holly, such as that forming the border around the cover.

Synopsis

Burrowing Bugs Bunny runs smack into the north pole after missing yet another turn. Daffy, who is travelling with Bugs, notices Santa's Chalet and figures it for a business capitalizing on the idea of Santa Claus. Mrs. Claus answers the door when the pair seek shelter from the cold. Once inside, Daffy still thinks it's a regular shop using Santa's name. Even seeing Mr. Claus and the elves making toys doesn't convince the duck.

Then it hits Daffy: selling toys using Santa's name is a stroke of business genius. The greedy duck imagines a chain of such shops, with himself getting far more than anyone doing real work. When Santa explains that he gives the toys away, Daffy is stunned. Feigning concern for others, Daffy asks how the elves get paid only to learn that they don't.

While Bugs and the Clauses try to relax a bit with some cocoa, Daffy starts a ruckus by trying to unionize the elves. The duck's angle is that if he can't get make money off Santa directly, he'll do so as a union boss instead. Santa appeals to the elve's to not disappoint the children of the world. Meanwhile Bugs deals with Daffy by giving him a pounding and even starts him on the way to roasting.

Santa offers to forgive everything if he gets some help loading his sleigh. Daffy's helping loads the sleigh fast enough, but knocks out both Santa and Rudolph. Now someone else must deliver the presents, and they need to find a replacement to complete the team. Bugs rides in Santa's place, and Daffy fills in for Rudolph.

In the U.S. desert southwest Wile E. Coyote is cooking something, but even the coyote can't stand it. Bugs delivers an item just outside the coyote's cave right after that realization. Wile E. sees a familiar outline and this time catches and eats his prey, a road runner doll. Drinking too much water after eating the doll's stuffing leaves Wile E. quite stuffed indeed.

Sylvester and Tweety wait for Granny to return with supplies, but after Daffy causes an avalanche they expect it will be a long wait. Tweety convinces Sylvester that eating him will result in no Christmas presents, but the cat's stomach has other ideas. The bird, rightly concerned, paints up a rock to look like himself. The cat tries to eat the rock and loses many teeth. Sylvester is still after Tweety when Bugs sends bags of food down the chimney. Unfortunately for the cat, it's all birdseed. When he yells up the chimney about that, he gets clobbered with a sack of coal.

Bugs and Daffy make another stop, this time in New York City at the DC Comics building. They made it in time for the office party. Daffy annoys everyone else, even managing to disgust Pepe Le Pew, as he gloats about others aren't in this comic. He also gloats about how he's the star of this month's comic and how the story has him saving Santa and Christmas. Those who he's bothered make a quick plan and they all clobber the annoying duck. The story ends with many of the Looney Tunes characters happy, even Sylvester, with Daffy wrapped up like a present and given a label saying he shouldn't be opened until next Christmas.
