McLaughlin is currently working as Senior Production Coordinator for the WB Animation series Superman. He has worked in the same position for Animaniacs, as well as a production assistant for Pinky and the Brain. He wrote the Pinky and the Brain cartoon Three Mice and a Baby, in episode 24, and has written for the cartoon series The Real Adventures of Jonny Quest, as well as numerous comics.
